Clapton then joined Cream, a band known for improvisational blues and “arty pop,” followed by Blind Faith in 1969 and a solo career that includes work with Derek and the Dominoes. Clapton co-wrote the popular song “Layla” while with this last band.

His Friendship With George Harrison

However, by the late 1960s, Clapton had made friends with George Harrison of the Beatles. Clapton even performed a guitar solo on George Harrison’s “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” from the Beatles’ 1968 album “While My Guitar Gently Weeps.” Later that year, Clapton featured on Harrison’s first solo album, an experience the guitarist would repeat.
