Kahn felt secure in the In-Sync rescue center. He became so strong that he had to create a cinder-block staircase for the center workers to get into his shelter quite comfortably. He had even more space for creation and relaxation now. The feeling contrasted dramatically with Kahn’s cramped cage.

Kahn now needed a friend he could play with. Lions are very social creatures and tend to be in packs, so it is alarming that Kahn and Sheila have been isolated from other lions for so long. They formed a bond immediately when Kahn and Sheila were put side by side. This friendship inspired Sheila’s healing. Kahn’s fighting spirit started to rub down on her.
