Lory Del Santo
In October 1985, Clapton made a couple of gigs in Milan, Italy. The artist met and fell in love with Lory Del Santo, an Italian lady, while there. They didn’t seem to mind that he was married and supposedly began an affair. The pregnancy that occurred from this romance broke Boyd’s heart for a multitude of reasons.

Boyd Was Devastated
Boyd, you see, has been struggling with infertility. Boyd and Clapton had even attempted to have a child at an IVF facility but were unsuccessful. Boyd seemed to be experiencing miscarriage after miscarriage. Boyd was devastated when Clapton informed her that Del Santo was expecting a kid. According to Philip Norman, Clapton’s biographer, she felt “as if [her] heart was going to disintegrate.”
